<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Today marks one year since Max became our legally adopted
son. On this day (Friday 22 July 2011) one year ago we were picked up by our
Facilitator who had the signed court papers and a new birth certificate that
showed that Max was now Benjamin Maxim
Burger. The first thing we had to do was go by the bank and close out the
account that was in Max's name. The next stop was at the orphanage, where we
met with the Director and donated the money that we had just received from
Max's closed account. Next we went to get Max, and put him in cloths that we
had brought especially for this day. This was the first time he had ever worn
cloths that were his only and not communal. We left the orphanage to never
return on this trip. The next 4 hrs were long and hard. We had to have Max's
picture taken (not an easy task) for his passport, complete the paperwork for
it and sign more papers. At the end of the day we were given a package of
papers that had to be copied and the copies were to be filed with the local government
office.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now to that evening. Max was in a whirlwind, he had been
taken from the only life he had ever known (the orphanage) and was with people
he that he had seen twice a day, (everyday) for the last 5 weeks and in a
strange place (the apartment we were renting). Needless to say that none of us
got very much sleep that night.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This blog will be continued next week, when we do a year in
review from the day we got home until one year later. <o:p></o:p></div>Bill and Sherihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04088906502033910874noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5049678614871850156.post-67490838042321157742012-07-13T21:14:00.000-07:002012-07-13T01:55:35.884-07:00We Are Back.........AgainLife has been very busy, but good. A day to tell the world 'look at what you are missing out on', to convince the world to stop ending their lives, stop sending them to institutions where they have no hope, where they die. There are families everywhere who love these children and we want them to have hope, to have a chance at life, to feel the sun on their faces, to dance in the rain, to step into a puddle, to jump into a pile of leaves, to feel the beach sand between their toes. To see a rainbow, to walk in the park, to eat an ice cream cone, to swing from a tree, to blow dandelion wishes in the wind, tosee the falling snow, to make a snow angel, to smell the ocean breeze, to see the butterfly flutter by, to see the deer in the meadow with her fawn, to feel the mist from the waterfall, to see the Eagle soar, to smell the flowers, to see so many things, to experience so many things that we take for granted....our little Max does not take things for granted.....I will never forget the first time he danced in the rain, it was so precious, he did not care that some were thinking "people just don't do that', they scurry to get out of the rain. Max loved it, he seemed to see it as the blessing that God meant for the rain to be. I have tears, it truly was beautiful to see him dance in the rain. He also stops and smells the flowers....he does, if we are walking by, and he sees a flower, he will stop look at it and smell it. I know that he is blessed to see the little things in life that we are often to busy to notice, he sees the world they way I feel that God meant for us all to see it. Max has tought me many things, and he is a huge blessing to our family!! We Love Him<3</strong></span></div><strong>If EVERYONE KNEW WHAT WE KNOW, THERE WOULD BE NO MORE DOWN SYNDROME CHILDREN IN ANY ORPHANAGES ANYWHERE, AND THE ABORTION RATE FOR A DOWN SYNDROME DIAGNOSIS WOULD BE ZERO.</strong><br />
<br />
<strong>Our Beautiful Little Max is a blessing, may God get all the glory for Max's life!</strong><br />

He had constant fluid in his ears that was not draining. It affected his hearing; they said that he was probably only hearing vowel sounds and not consonants. It would be like being underwater, trying to hear someone who was not underwater. The surgery went very well and the staff loved Max, they said he did beautifully. </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Well, right before they took him back, they asked if we thought he would be okay, if he would be fine with them taking him back to surgery without mom and dad. And, before I even realized what was happening, out of my lips it went... I said... "This is the first time Max has not had one of us with him since he left the Orphanage"..YIKES...what occurred after that was very difficult. They said "he's adopted?" We explained, yes, we adopted him from the Ukraine. They went into{{ PANIC M O D E}}. They said we need to see documentation of your adoption; we need to see the court documents. There was an exchange, it went back and forth for a bit. In all of the medical process, all the doctors' appointments and everything, this was the first time we had been asked for documentation. We have been asked at other times to provide the documentation. We have not kept it a secret; we have made it clear with all of these doctors' that he is adopted. We want him to get the best medical care possible. We do not know his entire medical history, and what we do know, we have discovered is not all accurate. At one point in the conversation the nurse said to us," you just told us he is adopted, and because you said that, we need to see the documents." I said to her, "if we back this conversation up five minutes, and I don't say anything about him being adopted then we would not need to prove he is ours?" She said "no". "But because I said he was adopted, now we need to prove it" "yes." We explained that he had been in that Doctors care for 3 months, it did not matter. </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now, back this up two weeks when we made his appointment for the surgery. During a phone conversation, telling us what to expect, they asked about allergies, he is allergic to citrus, so I explained that over the phone. She wanted to know what happened when he had citrus, I told her we did not know and I explained that he was adopted and gave her the info about citrus that the orphanage gave us. She said, you may need documentation of your adoption. So with that said we tucked it into his back pack and brought it with us. When we arrived for our appointment and we checked in, they did not ask for it, woohoo, or so we thought. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">When you adopt a child, and you have to keep proving the he is yours, it is hard. We are so ready to be a forever family.</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">They did take Max back and he was fine, we did provide documentation. We did ask them to show us why they needed it, they brought in a simple office statement, but there was really no official legal law noted on it. She did explain, that sometimes if there is any kind of custody dispute that one parent may not want the surgery, so that is why they ask for the documents. I told her that Max was abandoned the moment they said he has Down Syndrome. She said it is not unheard of for a parent to travel to stop a surgery. I said do you think that his parents who abandoned him at birth are going to leave the Ukraine and come here.... Lol...at this point the conversation was lighthearted, she said I know it is not fair. We said to her, when will he be truly ours?</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">We have had to provide documentation for other things; in fact one of the admin offices said "you'll need to carry documentation for a while." It is hard, we just want to be his forever family, we just want him to be seen as and treated as the child he is..OURS, we want to be seen as and treated like the parents we are.. HIS.</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">With all that has been said and done, we know he is ours, a blessing of the LORD! And we are so very thankful for him. After the fact, I realized, he does go in to his Church Wednesday class without us, and he does well. Our children also take care of him when Bill and I are not home. So he has been without mom and dad. When MAX came out of surgery, into recovery, they came to get us. They picked him up, put him in my arms and I was blessed to have some cuddle time with my little man. He was so adorable trying to "wake up" We love him!!</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KDSkAD3YNx0/T0d-8HT0NSI/AAAAAAAAAi0/87WqMWOpkrQ/s1600/Max+Surgery+Day.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181px" lda="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KDSkAD3YNx0/T0d-8HT0NSI/AAAAAAAAAi0/87WqMWOpkrQ/s320/Max+Surgery+Day.jpg" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: center;">This is Max before he went into surgery. The same nurse that gave us a hard time, let Max play with the finger monitor thing......he broke it :) I warned her he is special needs, and does not know about those types of things, that he would think it was a toy and...well... before I finished warning her, Max broke it. Bill picked it up and looked, he said it is so busted. Oh well, Max had fun :)</div>Bill and Sherihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04088906502033910874noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5049678614871850156.post-26188983486695930832012-02-17T11:27:00.000-08:002012-02-17T11:30:52.634-08:00We Are Back<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="color: blue; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> We took a unexpected break from blogging. Sorry we have been gone for so long. December was a hard month for me, I did not feel well at all, so I was not on the computer much. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I was feeling better in January, but had a lot of "catching up" to do in life, so again not much time for blogging. My daughter has most of her homeschooling on line now, so for now she uses my computer a lot. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="color: blue; font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> We are working on many blog posts about life with Max; we have been home from the Ukraine with Max for almost 7 months. We celebrated Max's 6th birthday and there were many first involved in this. It was his first birthday in the US, it was his first birthday outside of an orphanage, It was most likely his first birthday that he even knew was his, and it was his first birthday as our son. A great day of first for our son.</strong></span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}"><span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><strong>Max also had his first Thanksgiving on Thursday.....Wow!!! He loved all the excitement involved in the final touches on all the food, and bringing it to the table, he was so giddy and very excited. He knew that this meal was different. We took time to give God thanks for all the blessings, for everything, then we served Max, he loved it!!! He was grinning, and savoring every bite. It was a joy, to see him.</strong></span></span></div><br />

Needless to say, we have been very busy. Doctors appointments for Max and Dental for Sarah(she broke a tooth, actually, Max hit her jaw with his head, in an upward motion....ouch) We have had a lot happening, we are all doing well and Max is really settling in. We had family camp just a couple of weeks after we got back, and we also took Max to the zoo!</span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: blue;">There is a lot more to say, but we are getting things ready to go for family pictures tomorrow. I am so excited, Max will be in our pictures...sometimes I look at him and think to myself...he is here :) He is home where he belongs!! </span></strong><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="color: blue;">Max is learning to hug us, he is so cute...he holds his arms out, that is a hug, he does not wrap his arms around us yet, but we don't mind. Today, he gave me four kisses, he just softly puts his mouth to my cheek, then he giggles. He is so AMAZING!! We are so thankful for our little boy!</span></strong><br />
<br />

They have their first fundraiser going right now, so please take a look!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Bill & Sheri</div><div style="right: auto;"></div><div style="right: auto;"></div><div style="right: auto;"></div><div style="right: auto;"><span style="right: auto;">Hi! My name is Lauren and my husband and I have just started our adoption journey. (<a href="about:blank" title="http://www.yourlovewillcarryme.blogspot.com/">www.yourlovewillcarryme.blogspot.com</a>) We are in the process of completing our home study, and our sweet girl, Amanda, has just moved from the waiting child list to the MY FAMILY FOUND ME LIST! Can you hear my excitement?!? :)</span></div><div style="right: auto;"></div><div style="right: auto;"><span style="right: auto;">Anyways, we need to get moving on our fundraising, and since I'm a Scentsy consultant, we thought we'd try a Scentsy Fundraiser first! All proceeds from my business will be going towards her adoption.</span></div><div style="right: auto;"></div><div style="right: auto;"><span style="right: auto;">If you like candles, you'll LOVE Scentsy. If you love candles, you will be ADDICTED to Scentsy. </span></div><div style="right: auto;"></div><div style="right: auto;"><span style="right: auto;">Here is the write up I posted on my blog:</span></div><div style="right: auto;"><span style="right: auto;">When you start the adoption process, Reece's Rainbow highly recommends starting an adoption blog to help get the word out about your rescue mission to save the world, one child at a time.<br />
<br />
After all, how else are we going to <strike>beg</strike> ask politely for money to bring this sweet girl home. The costs?? ( Or as one great blogger calls it, RANSOM) Approximately $30,000!<br />
<br />
<em>I know.</em><br />
<br />
We are a little stressed about that, but we also know that our God can handle anything. We will be doing fundraisers to help raise the <strike>majority</strike> <em>ALL</em> of the money. As soon as we can, I will have a button on the side bar, which will allow for tax-deductible donations to be made <em>just for Alaina. </em>The money goes towards her adoption, and her adoption only.<br />
<br />
For starters, I am having a Scentsy (naturally) fundraiser for our sweet pea. It starts today, and ends on my birthday, the 26th. I make 25% off the sales, and the entire 25% will be used towards her adoption. We have about $950 in costs coming up soon, and my goal is to raise half of that! If the party totals $2000, I will earn $500! I know it's steep, but I want to at least try for that. Please, spread the word, share my blog, and get your birthday, anniversary, just because, I'm sorry, I just want to help, I love Scentsy, Christmas shopping done!! Click on this link to shop the fundraiser party on my website! <a href="about:blank" title="https://laurenevans.scentsy.us/Buy?partyId=51217273"><span style="color: #cc6699;">https://laurenevans.scentsy.us/Buy?partyId=51217273</span></a> It will help save a little girls life, plus your house will smell good and you won't have to clean anymore because your house will smell clean, thus giving the illusion of a clean home. Oh, and I should mention, for a lack of confusion, we were told to use her RR name, Amanda, so that there is no confusion as to which child we are trying to adopt. We are still naming her Alaina, but for fundraising we are calling her by her RR name, Amanda. :)<br />

Time does go by quickly. Things are going well, but they are still busy. We still have the loggers here everyday, they are finishing, they should be done Thursday. We still have appointments for Max, my mom is doing well. Like I said there is a lot going on these days. </strong><br />
<br />
<strong>Max is doing well, he seems to love his new life, he loves his brothers and sister. He loves to go to church, when we pull into the parking lot at church he lets us know he is excited. He has many new friends there. Our church family have been so loving and accepting of our little Max!</strong><br />
<br />
<strong>The only bummer right now is that my children can not go out and play in our yard, well, we don't have a yard anymore. It is more like a waste land. Max loves to be outside, and he is missing it. We will have to go to the park and let that little man run and play! I think that when the loggers are done and it gets "cleaned" up, it will be better, but we don't have a lawn anymore, it's gone. yes it is bright and sunny now, but it is not the same yard.</strong><br />
<br />
<strong>Well sorry for this quick post, I will post more later :) Here are a couple of pictures!</strong><br />

The owners of this property have decided to cut down most of the trees, I think someone said they are cutting down 76 trees.....I did not realize there were that many trees, but now that I see logs everywhere...well, there are a lot of logs laying on the ground. They are not finished yet, they just finished the front yard and have moved to the back yard. It is neat to watch those men plan on the place for each tree to land......and they do land where they are supposed to....there is more to logging than I realized. </span></strong><br />

First we decided to just walk on the beach, there was a cool breeze coming off the water, it was nice. Max seemed to be content, but he started to watch the waves roll, and wanted to be in the water. It was warm enough out, that I let the children go wading.....he loved it!!! The water was cold, so I did not let them stay in very long, but Max had a blast. We all had a great day! I praise God for the beautiful day and His creation! Wonder at the creation, worship the Creator, to God be the glory, forever!!</span></strong></div><br />

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><strong>We decided before we left Ukraine that when we got home and settled that we would do one more fundraiser for Diapers for the Orphanage where Max spent several years....for the dear children we love that are still there. So we have worked everything out with a local missionary church, we will get the funds to them, they will spend every dime on a lot of diapers....and deliver them to the orphanage.</strong></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><strong>When we were there, they were not re-using disposables yet.....but next to it. All they wanted for the children were diapers, we brought toothbrushes and toothpaste for the children, when we gave it to them they said...."WE NEED DIAPERS" so we bought what we could at the time, and we decided then that when we get home will will do one more fundraiser.</strong></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><strong>So please, help if you can, get the word out, we need <u><span style="color: purple;">DIAPERS FOR ODESSA</span></u>. Please share this blog, help us raise the money needed. We hope to raise about $1,500.....that will buy a bunch of diapers. We hope that they will be able to get some cloth for the babies, but they prefer disposables for the older children.</strong></div><br />

I would love to have those if possible. So those of you that were there, if you could send me those pictures and videos we would love to have them. I will post what I do have.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zfVZyj5E_YY/TkAXXZFF9aI/AAAAAAAAATk/CYG-m1aN5Fo/s1600/Home+with+Max+117.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240px" naa="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zfVZyj5E_YY/TkAXXZFF9aI/AAAAAAAAATk/CYG-m1aN5Fo/s320/Home+with+Max+117.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9p9VLNA0-o/TkAXusEFSiI/AAAAAAAAATo/AjRFansuKAs/s1600/Home+with+Max+103.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240px" naa="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9p9VLNA0-o/TkAXusEFSiI/AAAAAAAAATo/AjRFansuKAs/s320/Home+with+Max+103.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The family that made this, had the wrong arrival info, but we loved the thought and effort, they are dear to us!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3RJTgGw8kZY/TkAYoRkljSI/AAAAAAAAATs/iR8YnmHH51M/s1600/Soaring+Eagle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" naa="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3RJTgGw8kZY/TkAYoRkljSI/AAAAAAAAATs/iR8YnmHH51M/s1600/Soaring+Eagle.jpg" /></a></div>When we got to the cars that day, there was a Bald Eagle soaring right over us...it was there for awhile, a symbol of freedom, that God sent to welcome our little Max home! God is awesome!!!! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><span style="font-size: x-large;">An Arrival Shower</span></strong></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Our Church family gave us an "Arrival" shower, we are truly blessed to be a part of this body of believers. First, they told us, as our church family...that they are there for us, that they will help us and pray for us!! I do not take my church family for granted, they are an amazing bunch. But that is what we do in this family, we are there for each other, we help and pray, we bear each others burdens! The way God meant it to be!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So the way they delivered that support to us did surprise me, the shower surprised me, but the love and support of our church did not. I know this family very well, I know they will be there for us, we will be there for them. Words alone can not express how Bill and I feel, we truly do love this church family, more than they know.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

We arrived at Seatac Airport and was greeted by 20 or so members of our church including our Pastor and his family. After many hugs, pictures and videos we loaded up and went to lunch at Azteca for some normal Mexican food. After that we headed home to start unpacking and then the jet lag set in. Saturday was a day of only doing what needed to be done and a BBQ at friends, but a early night since we were all tired. <br />
<br />
Max has been doing great, he has also been effected by the jet lag since he slept very little on the trip home. So he will just pass out on us for a few hours and then be back awake. But when it is time for bed he is ready. He has his own toddler bed (thank you Potvins) that he mostly sleeps in, he is a busy sleeper so sometimes he ends up on the floor and we put him back in bed. He truly understands that this is his home and he has his own stuff.<br />
<br />
Sunday, Max and mom stayed home in the morning, but were at the evening service. Our church family was glad to finally meet Max. We had an ice cream social after church and ALL the girls were around him (he enjoys the attention). We are grateful to our church family and the support they have given us during our journey to bring Max home. We will post a more detailed timeline of the last weekend and pictures later. <br />
<br />
Thank you, BillBill and Sherihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04088906502033910874noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5049678614871850156.post-31995319991673615312011-07-27T06:57:00.000-07:002011-07-27T06:59:20.136-07:00I Cried...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--1y1B0E2sTE/TjANMcSrweI/AAAAAAAAATc/M8dFCWUAsN8/s1600/The+Flag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: purple;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--1y1B0E2sTE/TjANMcSrweI/AAAAAAAAATc/M8dFCWUAsN8/s1600/The+Flag.jpg" t$="true" /></span></a></div><span style="color: purple;"><br />

<span style="color: purple;">We had our appointment at the Embassy this morning, when I saw our flag....I cried....I really cried. I guess I have been gone too long. It is worth it to get our son Max, it has not been always easy, but God has been so good. We saw other Americans there, they are adopting also. It was so good to be able to speak English all morning long and to have everyone else speaking english also. It was a sweet sound.</span><br />
<span style="color: purple;">It was neat, to be on American soil...the other Americans were the same, they got here in Ukraine the same time we did, they have been here just as long. She almost cried, they said it was wonderful to be on American soil. We have made several new friends in Ukraine, many are American families all adopting, several are American Missionaries, working a mission at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Odessa, we love these people, they are in our hearts and prayers, we love their church family also, they were very good to us, we enjoyed the fellowship there, the church services, it was great and we will miss them all, many thanks to Lighthouse Baptist Church, we truly enjoyed our time in Odessa.......But we do miss home, we miss our children, Bryan, Brady and Sarah. we miss my mom, she is at our home with our children waiting for us. We miss our church family so much, we miss the services and time of worship, the preaching, we miss the fellowship. We are so ready to come home.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">We would love to see our church family at the airport.....so.....we are inviting you to come and Welcome Max Home. You can get the arrival info from pastor.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;">There are many that have been praying for us, praying that Max's medical appointment goes well, thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray. His medical will be in the morning.</span><br />

Something intrinsically important, not merely matter of show.</div><div style="margin-left: 15pt;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-left: 15pt;">In this adoption journey that started over 9 months ago, we have gone from not thinking about trying to adopt again, to saying that maybe someday we will look into it again, to a time where God placed in our hearts a desire to adopt a certain little boy from Eastern Europe that has Down Syndrome.</div><div style="margin-left: 15pt;">During this time we have had many days when we were not sure it was going to happen. There were times of discouragement, times of frustration, times of encouragement from many friends, but through all of this was a knowledge that we could not do this on our own but only through the strength of God and in his timing.</div><div style="margin-left: 15pt;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-left: 15pt;">Then came the day that we boarded a plane to fly almost half way around the world to start the in-country process, but it still seemed surreal to us. After we had our SDA appointment we left for the region he was in the next night. Our first day (Saturday) there was very discouraging, we had a place to stay for only one day and they were not sure when they could get us place after that. God then showed us He was still in control, we called the missionary here that we knew of and they were able to put us up for a couple of days and then on Monday with one phone call, we had an apartment for a month. Since then, we have seen may things that God has done to make this adoption process a reality.</div><div style="margin-left: 15pt;">Then on July 22nd 2011, it became a REALITY!!! Max became our son and he is quietly sleeping on the couch right now. It is no longer, is it going to happen or this is very surreal to us. It is now a REALITY that God has placed in our care this little boy to Love for the rest of our lives. God’s word tells us in <b><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Matthew 19:26</i></b><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"> But Jesus beheld <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">them</span>, and said unto them, <span style="color: #ba0000;">With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.</span> </i>Once more, we have been shown that when it comes to God, He can make what we think is almost an impossibility to be a REALITY in His power and timing. We have and will continue to Praise God for His goodness, mercy and grace He has bestowed upon us with our new son Max.</div>Bill and Sherihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04088906502033910874noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5049678614871850156.post-16084230686023286992011-07-20T11:11:00.000-07:002011-07-20T11:11:30.042-07:00City by the Sea & Max<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rMk0S6MU5-I/TicVef864uI/AAAAAAAAAR8/PkbqNF6CgRo/s1600/The+Bridge+029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rMk0S6MU5-I/TicVef864uI/AAAAAAAAAR8/PkbqNF6CgRo/s320/The+Bridge+029.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />

As everyone else who has gone through the international adoption process, you find yourselves in a HURRY UP and WAIT mode. You rush and hurry up to get your commitment papers in for the child that has captured your heart. Then you hurry up to get documents completed for your home study and then you wait for the completed<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>package. After you get that back, you hurry up and submit your I-600 form and then you WAIT for your figure printing appointment. Once you have that, then you get your figure prints done and then Wait again. But while you are waiting you continue to complete the rest of the paperwork and have EVERYTHING notarized. Then you submit all your paperwork to your rep. to see if it will pass the test for correctness and wait. If there is a mistake, you do that document over again and re-submit and wait again. Then when you think you have everything done and your “Golden Ticket” comes in, you look at the dates of all your documents and you notice that some of them may be older than the required time frame from the time they were notarized to when you will have your SDA appointment, so you have to HURRY UP and get them re-done and re-submitted for approval. Once everything is done and ready, you take them down to have them Apostilled, then you can hurry up and get them sent to your adopting country and WAIT for your SDA appointment. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">During all of this mass frantic paperwork chasing you are trying to put together everything else. Who is going to watch the kids, what bills do I need to pre-pay or set up other arrangements, who is going to watch the house, will my work let me off for that long and so on and so on……… All of this is a hurry up for you need it done but it is also a wait for your are not sure when. But when the day comes and you receive your <stockticker w:st="on">SDA</stockticker> appointment date, you only have a few days so it is back to the turbo charged HURRY UP. You hurry up to get all of this done and then you hurry up to get in country to wait for your appointment. Then you hurry up to get to your region to wait to see your child. Then for a few days you are in a hurry up mode to get more paperwork completed and then you wait for your court date. When that day comes you hurry up to get to the court only to wait, since we all know all courts are running behind.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But when the court is over and you have been granted your petition to adopt your child you are over joyed. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Now comes the hard part, you have been in a hurry and wait mode for 7-9 months and now that it seems like you are almost done and ready to head home you have more time to WAIT. The 10 day waiting period is a major WAIT. It seems to be as long as the whole process you have done already. Its only 10 days, but it seems to be like 10 months. But the day comes when it is over and then you hurry up to get the last few documents so you can pick-up your child and hurry up to the capital so you can have their medical done and then off to the embassy for their visa and then you wait for your flights home. The day comes to fly home and you hurry up to the airport to wait in line for security, then you hurry up to your terminal to wait for the boarding time and then finally you are on your way home. Once you arrive at your airport you hurry up and get off the plane to wait at customs. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">With all of this HURRY UP and WAIT you learn that you need patience. We have come to the LORD many times during this process with prayer. For it was GOD that had set us on this journey and it was His words that kept us going<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">. <span style="color: red;"><b>Hebrews 10:36</b> For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise; </span></i><span style="color: red;">and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">James 1</i></b><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">:<b> 3-4</b> Knowing <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">this</span>, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">her</span> perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.</i></span> Before you submit to do anything you should always bring it before the LORD and he shall direct you path. We have no doubt that God has set us out on this journey for it has been by His strength only that we have been able to continue this adoption journey. We praise God for his mercy and grace in our lives to allow us to adopt this sweet boy so he can have a forever family, ours and HIS.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Right now we are in the middle of the 10 day waiting period, so we are almost to the last phase of the HURRY UP AND WAIT.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V2QezZrTnmg/TiOxCPQhDvI/AAAAAAAAARk/JkBCZU6TiZ4/s1600/The+Bridge+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" m$="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V2QezZrTnmg/TiOxCPQhDvI/AAAAAAAAARk/JkBCZU6TiZ4/s320/The+Bridge+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

How many people fret and worry that something may go wrong? That someone might ask them a question that they don’t know the answer to or that they might get asked something unexpected. For us, we thought all things were going smooth when we had one of these. The day was hot and the waiting area had no air conditioning and just prior to our court hearing there was a concern about renting instead of owning a home. What do you do when this happens? We both started praying about the issue and our Interpreter said that everything was going to be OK and to pray. After a time of prayer and with the coming to mind the scripture of Psalms 46:10 “<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Be still, and know that I am God</i>” . With that, we had a calm come over us, in fact it felt like it was no longer as hot in the waiting area. Once we were called into the court room for the hearing, everything went smoothly. No concerns were brought up about the house or anything else, in fact it was all very positive. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">We should never be surprised when we have difficulties or trials. For God tells us in James 1:2-4 “<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Knowing <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">this</span>, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">her</span> perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing</i>.” So the first thing we should do is take it to God and then; BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD! For it is only then that we can have peace, and know that God is in control.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">We have seen the mighty hand of God work all through this adoption process and we know He is not done yet. We know and have faith that when there are trials, we are to BE STILL and let God do His work. One of our prayers during this journey has been that we would stay out of Gods way while He was at work for this adoption. We have praised God for every step of this journey, knowing He has been in-control and will stay in-control. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: red; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">Proverbs 3:5-6 “<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding</i>.
